Types of Reactions Homework Answer Key: Boost Your Chemistry Skills

A chemical reaction is a process or chemical change that transforms one set of substances (the reactants) into another set of substances (the products). The process involves breaking chemical bonds between atoms and forming new bonds, so the number and type of atoms are the same for both reactants and products. The chemical change is described by a chemical equation. There are several types of chemical reactions. Here is look at the four main types of chemical reactions, plus additional key reaction types.

Technically, there are hundreds or even thousands of different types of chemical reactions. However, chemistry students usually learn to classify them as 4 main types, 5 main types, or 6 main types. The four main types of chemical reactions are synthesis, decomposition, single displacement, and double displacement. But, remember, some people use different names for these reactions. Other important types of reactions are combustion, acid-base, and redox reactions. It gets even more complicated in organic chemistry, where many reactions have special names. However, these other types of reactions also fit into one of the four main categories!

Chemical reactions involve changes - changes of reactants into products. Basic chemical reactions can be grouped into categories based on the types of changes that are occuring during the reaction. There are five basic categories - synthesis, decomposition, combustion, single replacement, and double replacement.

After their unsuccessful attempt to raid the kitchen, Kevin and Ren Yi Xiang proceed to do their homework. Kevin then takes out a small roll of tape and tapes both of his lens to his forehead. Ren Yi Xiang is confused by this, with Kevin answering that doing his homework is so boring and that he is trying to not fall asleep. While Kevin's plan doesn't work and begins to fall asleep, unbeknownst to him, JianHao and Nicole sneak behind him and place a matcha crepe cake in the spot where he is going to land his head. The plan works, surprising Kevin while JianHao and Nicole quietly leave the scene. Kevin easily identifies the food and appreciates it as his snack, proceeding to eat it using his glasses as a spoon. He tries to offer some to Ren Yi Xiang, but he still remains serious in being gluten-free.

Trev and Abbey work on the multiple choice section for their homework, to which Trev oddly picks the first two letters, A and B, as his answers for most the questions, worrying Abbey and confusing Terry. Abbey stops Trev after fearing that he would make a mistake on his homework, making Trev reveals that he is rushing through his homework because he would like to spend more time with Abbey. Trev continues to flirt with her about choosing A and B repetitively almost sounds like Abbey, much to Abbey's disapproval. Terry laughs at Trev's absurd behaviour, making Trev unreasonably angry at him. Trev is finished with his homework and asks Abbey if she would like to watch him and his friends, to which Abbey agrees. They both leave the dining room, while Trev unexpectedly snaps back at Terry again, leaving him confused.

In another area, Hakim and Vicky both agree to do each half of the homework and compare answers after they've finished. Hakim proceeds to read a simple math question that is strangely related a person having two balls, which is unfortunately told from a first person perspective using the pronoun "I", along with the question mentioning a person named Abbey. Deducing the question to be sexually related, Vicky confronts Hakim about why he would be in an affair with Abbey. Hakim tries to defend himself by justifying that the "balls" that were mentioned were related to sports, though Vicky wrongfully assumes that Hakim is blaming on the question and assumes that he is cheating on her. Hakim gets mad at his girlfriend for being wrongly accused, while Vicky rudely asks that he should go with Abbey instead of cheating with her. Before an argument could take place, Diana tells them to be quiet for her to do her homework. Hakim concludes his question by answering that he's "got no balls", strongly implying the guilty-but-innocent position that he is in with his blind girlfriend.

In the kitchen area, Debbie, Tasha, Ren Yi Xiang and Kevin are doing geography homework. To test their knowledge, they decide to test each other on their world capitals, and Tasha and Ren Yi Xiang answer the capitals of India and the Philippines respectively with ease. Ben comes along, and Debbie asks if he would like to join him, to which he accepts. However, he becomes embarrassed and leaves them after he was laughed at for not being able to answer the capital of France. Debbie quickly gets up from her seat to pursue Ben, and they have a quick conversation over what had just happened. Ben ultimately decides to leave them to play basketball as he felt like he did not belong with them, but still wants to see her in class tomorrow. Debbie is sad for making Ben feel disappointed in himself and returns back to her friends.

Back in the main living area, Jasmine and Cherylene are trying to complete their homework. Cherylene, who is frustrated with trying to find the answer, decides to check Google. However, she becomes distracted after she sees a notification about a new Titan Academy series video. They watch it together, with Cherylene relating to a girl yelling "Miss Sherly!" rapidly. After watching the video, Cherylene realises that she forgot what they were supposed to do, so Jasmine decides to order some boba. Jasmine calls out to everyone else to see if anybody else wanted boba as well, and Kevin quickly rushes over to her, and places an order for a bubble tea with 200% sugar. Ren Yi Xiang then asks if there is a gluten-free option.

After a while, Vincent is busy playing with JianHao's PlayStation 4. After playing for a bit, he decides to get his homework done. However, after looking through the paper, he begins to question anybody that would have the time and motivation to do it. Not wanting to do it by himself, he goes up to Denise and asks if he could copy her answers, to which she agrees to it but only if Vincent was willing to actually learn. Vincent, who was obviously not behind this condition, he uses a distraction to distract Denise, takes her paper and makes a dash for it. However, Vincent ended up taking a random paper that instead contained guidelines on how to wear face masks properly.

JianHao is in shock of what is happening, fearing that his "mum's going to kill [him]" while Vincent laughs out of amusement. He is disappointed in his butler, to which Walater is too distraught to say anything. After Vicknesh had joined them, Vincent asked to see Terry's notes. However, after doing this, Vincent immediately pushes Terry into the pool, laughing as everyone else watches in confusion and shock. After retrieving the answers to the homework, JianHao, Trev and Vincent walk back into the house while the other three students watch in confusion, as Vincent abrasively reassures to Terry that he would survive, literally taking Walater's words that he wouldn't be eaten by Gong Gong.

In this types of chemical reactions worksheet, high schoolers fill in 5 blanks with the proper type of chemical reaction described in the sentence. Students balance 5 equations and identify the type of chemical reaction for each equation.

Up to now, we have presented chemical reactions as a topic, but we have not discussed how the products of a chemical reaction can be predicted. Here we will begin our study of certain types of chemical reactions that allow us to predict what the products of the reaction will be.

There are currently five different types of reaction that may be simulated in HYSYS and a number of reactor types that they may be used with (and one special reactor that does not require any equations). Reactions may also be used in Columns and Separators (though there are some limitations on the phases that may be used by the reactions in those cases). The five reaction types are as follows:

The Plug Flow Reactor can be used with Kinetics, Kinetics (Rev. Eqm.), or Langmuir-Hinshelwood reactions (any number and combination of the three types can be used in the reaction set). An excellent description of each of the PFR's inputs can be found in Section 13.10 of RV 2. You can also get a good idea of the way to go about setting up a PFR in your simulation by working through my Plug Flow Example.

The CSTR can be used with Kinetics, Kinetics (Rev. Eqm.), or Langmuir-Hinshelwood reactions (any number and combination of the three types can be used in the reaction set). An excellent description of each of the CSTR's inputs can be found in Section 13.13.3 of RV 2. You can also get a good idea of the way to go about setting up a CSTR in your simulation by working through the Chemicals Tutorial in the Tutorials Book. In addition you might want to take a look at my Case Studies Example, where I build on the tutorial by adding a case study. I use the Spreadsheet feature to access the actual conversion % of the CSTR in the tutorial.

The General Reactor is like a combination of the CSTR and the Equilibrium Reactor. If you put in all kinetic style reactions, it acts like a CSTR. If you put in all equilibrium reactions, it acts like an Equilibrium Reactor. The General Reactor, unlike any other type of reactor available to you, will also allow you to mix equation types. You can combine kinetic and equilibrium reactions into one reaction set (you still cannot combine conversion reactions with any other type, though you can attach a conversion reaction set to the general reactor as well). That set will then be a mixed type and can be attached to the general reactor. Unfortunately, verifying the accuracy and method is somewhat involved (though not necessarily difficult). I leave it to you to investigate this. Rather than create an example for you. This time I simply added the General Reactor to my file comparing all the other reactors. That way, you may use all the reactions and reaction sets that were created for the other examples as a way of exploring the results that the General Reactor gives you. The name of the file is AllReactors.hsc and it is located under \\Hartsook\Hysys\SAMP403. 2ff7e9595c
